Safety Considerations
Spending an afternoon canoeing can be a fun way to experience nature, get a good workout, and spend quality time with friends and family.
There is always the risk of capsize, so please ensure everyone is briefed on what to do in the event of this happening.
Always Follow These Basic Rules

Always wear a personal flotation device PFD/Buoyancy Aid.

Always sit on the seats, or in the centre of the canoe.

Avoid standing up or walking in the canoe.

Don't make any sudden or jerky movements that could rock the boat and cause it to tip over/capsize.

Keep a safe distance between you and other boats.

Try and keep the canoe at right angles to the waves at all times, if you don't you run the risk of being turned over.

In the event of capsizing a canoe serves as both a buoyancy aid and a beacon, which can be spotted by others.

Your canoe will float even if it's full of water.

Thames Canoe Hire, will not be liable for any death, personal injury, or loss/damage to goods arising out of the hire of items by them.
We advise hirers, if they feel necessary, to obtain their own Insurance for accidents on-board.
You are responsible for the canoe and equipment, throughout the hire duration.
